What is Holistic Pelvic Care?

Holistic Pelvic Care© (HPC) is a framework of women’s health care created by Tami Lynn Kent, pelvic floor physio therapist and energy sensitive.

At the core of this work is a thorough understanding of the female energy system which can then be connected to and worked with through tools that influence the flow of energy in the body, such as breath, visualization and sensory awareness.

The physical component of this work involves assessment and massage to the internal muscles and fascia of the pelvic floor. The physical tools assess, lightly treat, and confirm change in the presenting patterns of the body.

By addressing the core physical, emotional and spiritual patterns in a woman's life, HPC helps to balance and enhance the vibrant flow of energy in all aspects of her life.

Feng Shui for the Pelvic Bowl

HPC has been described as feng shui for the pelvic bowl. If we think of our pelvic bowl as a house, it can get cluttered, cold and full of cobwebs if we do not attend to it. Before we know it, what started as small imbalances in the integrity of the house can present as much larger problems down the line - be it a physical pattern of tension in the muscles and fascia of the pelvic floor that limit pleasure or create dysfunction, or a way of being in the world that limits our range of self-expression.

Whereas the biomedical model treats imbalances in the pelvis once symptoms have developed, holistic care invites us to attend to the body and to our deep inner work, so that we may be well and so that we may thrive.

Big things happen in life. The body-mind responds and adapts, shifting how we see, feel and express over time. HPC provides us with a framework to attend to the imbalances that occur and make medicine for ourselves and our lives, using the pelvic bowl as the interface for physical, emotional and even ancestral healing.

The Role of Fascia...

Fascia - the living, intelligent web of connective tissue that weaves through our entire organism - is the link between our gross and subtle experience of body. It is the doorway linking body and spirit.

Fascia holds memory and changes it shape and quality in response to our life experiences, influencing the flow of energy, information and movement throughout the body.

Fascia is intricately connected to the nervous system as well as hormone production.

For women, fascial restrictions play a large role in menstrual pain, irregularities and PMS, as well as the experience of dysfunction or "not quite feeling myself" after pelvic surgery and childbirth.

At the very minimum, on the physical level, holistic pelvic care bodywork can help clear tension and congestion in the pelvis which is at the root of many other symptoms. It can also offer doors to healing and awakening in emotional, energetic and ancestral domains.

Trauma-Informed and Sacred

Holistic Pelvic Care is a trauma-informed practice.

It can support the integration of trauma held in the body by gently, slowly and skillfully repairing a woman's awareness of and connection to her own body as well her ability to inhabit it safely and with reverence.

This can be a gentle process, involving titrating, pacing and developing skills of embodiment and grounding so that the woman can integrate and re-author the energetic patterns occurring in real time.

By bringing blessings to the places in our bodies and lives where there have been difficulties, we lovingly build a pathway back home to ourselves. In the same way we lovingly cultivate a garden, we come back into right relationship with the beautiful landscape of our own being.

Who can benefit from HPC?

There are gaps in how womb loss and change is held in broader social systems. HPC provides a container for the physical and emotional impacts of these changes to be addressed, with compassion, respect and empowerment. There is healing that can be done physically, emotionally and energetically.

HPC is not just for treating symptoms that have already developed. It is also for enhancing and maintaining the vibrant flow of energy in your life. The pelvis is like a cauldron for our life force and essence. Whether we use it for sensuality or for creative expression, we can develop and care for our connection this powerful place and step into greater body literacy.

There are some seasons we can't think our way through. As our lives change, our bodies are an anchor to the wisdom of nature's intelligence and the ancestors that came before us. She has answers and creative solutions on the spiral path of life that cannot be accessed by the mind alone.

During times of challenge, change and instability, HPC offers access to your deepest inner voice and fosters resonance between mind, body and spirit when you need it most.

HPC is a great aid on the post-partum journey. It can treat fascial restrictions, muscle tightness and weakness that can develop after the event of vaginal birth and to a degree, from c-sections (the fascia of the abdomen connects to the pelvic fascia further down).

It also attends to the emotional and spiritual transition of becoming a mother by connecting a woman to the wisdom of her own body as she grows and integrates the changes present for her as well as her bonding with the new child.

Physical sessions can begin 6 weeks after birth. Energetic sessions are available when she is ready.

HPC is invaluable for the pre-conception journey. Although we avoid internal work when you are actively trying to conceive, it offers the opportunity to improve physical pelvic floor health, clarify pelvic energy and enhance intentionality before trying to conceive. Think of it as preparing the nest for the baby to land and set up the container for the pregnancy and birth journey.

Many symptoms of PMS can be improved through improving blood flow and reducing tension in the pelvic space. HPC also fosters a womans relationship towards and with her body as a whole - how to pace life in a more sustainable way and educating her how to self-care at home for cycle health.

What to Expect in a Session

Here we discuss your reasons for coming, any concerns or questions you might have and prepares both of us for the direction and progression of the session.

If we agree that internal bodywork is appropriate, we will go ahead, first by assessing your pelvic squeeze. This gives us a starting point for reading and interpreting the pelvic floor – ie, tension, strength, tone and muscles recruitment. Your top clothes will remain on during bodywork and your lower body will be covered by a blanket the whole time.

Internal bodywork begins, involving massage to the muscles and fascia of the pelvic floor as well as guided dialoguing processes with the body to gain insight and work with core patterns of body, mind and emotion. I will work at your pace and ask you to breathe to different areas at different moments and engage in visualisation and sensory awareness.

We re-assess your squeeze to notice and integrate changes and do any brief bodywork required to improve treatment outcome. I will leave you to get changed and we will discuss self-care practices and takeaways going forward. Sessions will be 1 hour including consultation.

Testimonials

"I have experienced Gigi as a kind, gentle and strong woman. Passionate about women's health and healing. A yoni steam experience was provided by Gigi which felt nurturing and private. Gigi knows when to step in and when to step back and allow the healing to take place. As I client I always felt heard and respected. She is still and holds space lovingly. A pelvic healing experience provided by Gigi was a gentle way of checking in with myself, where my attention had drifted away from self and I was gently guided to return to self through colour and body communication. Gigi is a beautiful woman who wants to hold space and bring all her teachings to the fore."

-Vanessa

"I had a wonderful womb healing session with Gigi where I felt expertly guided from beginning to end. She really helped me to feel settled and welcomed into the space, and she took the time at the start to check in and see how to best approach the session with my personal circumstances in mind. When trauma came up for me in the initial consult, we dropped right into energy work with these emotions in mind and I appreciated being able to have this very tailored experience before then being guided through the expertly tailored ovary & womb energetic process. A lot of emotions came up for me and all throughout the session I felt safe to express, explore and transform. The outcome of my session was that of deep insight, and I came out with really clear, tangible actions I can take to maintain and foster better emotion/energy balance beyond the treatment room. Thanks Gigi!"

Curious but not sure?

If you feel curious about Holistic Pelvic Care but are unsure, abdominal massage can be a supportive and accessible first step. This work offers a way to connect with the pelvic bowl indirectly, supporting relaxation, circulation, and somatic awareness through the abdomen, while still honoring the depth and intelligence of the body’s center.

For many women, starting here provides a sense of safety and familiarity, and can naturally open the door to deeper pelvic and energetic work over time.

Otherwise, you are welcome to email me with any questions at gigicoachingandcreation@gmail.com.
