This Hatha Yoga sequence is themed around 'awareness of opposites' which is a starting point to developing mindfulness and equanimity in the face of pleasant and unpleasant experiences, as well as expand our experience of ourselves as multi-faceted beings. Opposites naturally arise as pairs in our consciousness - we can't know hot without knowing cold, or recognize pleasure without pain. Each opposite needs the other.
Similarly, Hatha Yoga (Ha = Sun & Tha = Moon) aims to unify or balance, the two necessary forces of solar and lunar energy of our beings so that we may experience the Union, or Divinity, within.
The sequence gently warms, strengthens and stretches the body whilst guiding the mind towards contemplation and experience of the polarities - and the unity - within.
